Introduction

The launch of this region is like laying foundation for providing broadband in un-served urban areas of NWFP. Hazara Telecom Region (HTR) consists of the following districts:

1. Abbottabad
2. Batagram
3. Haripur
4. Kohistan
5. Mansehra

HTR, as a whole, has a total area of about 17,500 Sq Kms, a total population (rural + urban) of around 4.4 M (i.e. 2.6% of Total Population of Pakistan) and a population density of 251 Persons/SqKms. This project targets an urban population of 0.6M in 17 Cities/Towns of HTR.

Narrow band (dial-up) Internet services are available through multiple operators in all the districts, either through Narrowband Pops or Virtual Pops, via fixed line dialup as well as narrowband wireless technologies. 10,750 connections will be provided through this project along with establishing 145 Educational Broadband Centres and 21 Communtiy Broadband Centres.
