Multan Telecom Region (MTR) consists of the following districts:

MTR, as a whole, has a total area of about 100,000 Sq Kms, a total population (rural + urban) of around 24 M (i.e. 14% of Total Population of Pakistan) and a population density of 240 Persons/SqKms. This project targets an urban population of 4.4M in 37 Cities/Towns of MTR (excluding the city of Multan).
Apart from providing broadband services, the project includes establishment of Educational Broadband Centres in 327 high-schools and colleges and 85 Community Broadband Centres in MTR.
Narrow band (dial-up) Internet services are available through multiple operators in all the districts, either through Narrowband Pops or Virtual Pops, via fixed line dialup as well as narrowband wireless technologies.

Following three registered bidders submitted their Qualification & Services Proposals on 4th May 2009;

Financial Bid Opening of Technically Qualified Bidders
Following bidders were declared Technically Qualified and their Financial Bids were opened on 18th May 2009. Subsidy requested by each bidder, based on 100% target, is as follows;
After the process of matching lowest subsidy and selection of targets (as per USF Broadband Bidding documents – RFA clauses 47, 48, 50 and 51), the contracts that have been signed with the two bidders are summarized below.
